[Class Log]

We began with an introduction of the new members of the class. 

 

Maddie went over the previous Daily Log from January 9th. 

 

Maddie reviewed the section from Understanding Genres that we had read for today’s class. 

    - About the Author: Amy Braziller and Elizabeth Kleinfeld 

    - Essential Topics

    - Favorite Quotes: “You need to grab their attention and keep it.” 

    - Craft/ Voice/ Style of Writing

    - Critical Thinking

    - Discussion Questions: If you were to write about your life, what genre would you do so in? Why? Who would your audience be? 

    - Works Cited: Informal 

 

Maddie reviewed Project One from the syllabus and what will be expected of us. We talked about Preparatory Assignment #1: Research Question and Rationale in more detail. We also reviewed Preparatory Assignment #2: an Annotated bibliography, Preparatory #3: The interview, and The Research Essay.  

    -  Preparatory Assignment #1 will be due next Thursday. 

 

Maddie reviewed the weekly plan. 

 

We began working on our own individual Wix pages. 

    - Sign Up, preferably with your FSU email. 

    - Chose template 

    - Top of Website: Home, Blog Post, Project 1, Project 2, Project 3, and you could possibly add an “about you” page. 

 

The class was assigned writing groups. 

 

Maddie shared her Office Hours: Tuesday 11-12, Wednesday 9-12 in Williams 331.
